Island Vibes-La Ceiba Week Thirty One

 

This week multiple times felt like a fever dream idk what happened to Honduras but it felt super Hawaiian this week like the weather mixed with the experiences. I would feel like I was in Hawaii and then boom some dude would walk by with a machete and I'd come back to reality. Or maybe they carry machetes in Hawaii too idk tbh. AND my ap is from Hawaii so bro just got those island vibes. And i bought a ukulele today so watch out elder Cameron walker we gonna have a ukulele and spanish battle after this thing

We did get machetes banned tho which is so LAME, some missionary cut his arm open lol so no more service for us out here.

 

We had zone conference tho and OH MAN it was good. It might've been the last time I saw some of the boys before they go home on the mish so that was rough😭😭 but elder basham if you ever read this I hope the girl situation goes good on the other side🤝🤝

 

Basically the message for zone conference was if your sick you can either rot away in your room or go out and be useful lol. Welp next day my comp woke up with a 102 fever and I don't think he was too excited with what was talked about the day before

Rest of the week was chill had a dope ward activity that we gotta go too and i gotta play sports⚽️⚽️ for the first time outside of pday, these mission rules be nuts but we surviving.

 

Other than that missions going good, next week I hit 1/3 of the way wish is crazy never thought id get this far BUT YESSSIRRRR LETS GOOOOOOOO🔥🏆🔛🔝

 

Spiritual thought

GENERAL CONFERENCE IS COMINGG and im so hyped literally get to listen to the leaders of the church for 10 hours this weekends gonna be so dope. Something our bishop said was he invited everybody to come to the church to watch conference BOTH DAYS because he knows nobody pays attention at home. Now im not a maniac so stay at home pls but I will say don't take the opportunity for granted to listen to the prophet and apostles and also spend time with the fam.

Drunks jdubs-Monte Cristo Week Thirty

 

OKAY gotta stop leaving these for when theres 8 mins left of pday lol

 

Highlight of the week was fs divisions with my boy elder grammar. Hes on his second transfer in the mish so I basically did everything all day and was pretty sick🔥🔥🔥🔥

 

Heres a highlights of the day

-went on a dope hike

-had three 1 hour lessons

-got smoothies

-got burger kind

-got yapped to by a member about honduras people being lazy

-and the best part is we got invited by this half drunk group of people to go to a jehovahs witnesses event💪💪

 

It was actually so dope. We walking to this appointment and these four 20 year olds get out of a car and call us all over. Then they just start bombarding us with questions like "who are you" "do you believe in the trinity" "what bible do you read". This one dude who was the leader or smth pulled out a pamphlet and invited me to their event on April 12th. He said "if you come to my event I'll go to yours." And then he said we had to come or he would loose all faith in our church😬😬 high stakes right there. There was one sober girl in tbe group who also spoke English and the whole time she was like "no way your gonna go" and just back stabbing her friends lol. Lowkey so fun I yapped with them for like 30 mins while elder grammar was so lost but also loving it. We ended up taking a group selfie so I'll add that.

THE ELECT ARE REAL

 

My president always says we are searching for God's elect, that are ready to recieve the gospel and holy cow that happened.

 

I've seen this place on our map for a while and was finally like we gotta contact here

 

So first house this lady walks out and we are like yo as missionaries we invite people to church wanna come, and she goes uhh I haven't been in 30 years which church. Then we tell her the church of Jesus christ and this is what happens 

 

-she realizes her aunt is a member of the church

-she turns around and ask her 17 year old son if he wants to come and it was the equivalent response to (yuh I'm down)

-then she says she has a kid with autism but we told her there's members who can help her

-then she says "well I guess I'm gonna be surprising my aunt at church!"

 

She came to church loved it, talked to her aunt for the first time in years, got a ride back with her. Same day gave her a book of mormon and she said it made a lot of sense.OHH AND CRAZIEST PART

 

we taught her the restoration and Joseph smiths vision and she goes "you guys believe in that?" And we are like yuhhhh, and then she goes "no way because I had a very similar experience" and then she tells us she was laying in bed, and her room started to get covered in darkness and then a light appeared in the corner and absorbed all the darkness and it was all super comforting for her, AHHHHHHHH

 

Literally so elect we gonna visit her tmrw her life seems so busy, any prayers would be awesome she and her family are so awesome.

 

Besides that just getting used to being Sr comp and making more decisions. Comps a little sad and misses home but we gonna try and cheer him up this transfer🔥🔥🔥

Elections✅️ -Monte Cristo Week Twenty Eight

 

This week was pretty average on mission weeks ngl so its gonna be short 

 

TRANSFERSS

So im staying another transfer in the good ole montecristo 2 and im getting a comp who has less time then me so SENIOR COMP YESSSIR I've heard the comp im recieving is still home sick so time to have some fun with this guy and baptize some people

So this week was voting for elections for honduras so lots of stuff was going on. We had to go home early on Sunday because that's when voting was and it apparently gets dangerous but it's chill literally NOBODY was at home or in tbe streets everybody was out waiting in lines to vote it was insane

 

I'm so grateful for this gospel and the teachings it has. I read the sermon on the mount again this week and it's SO GOOD I encourage everybody to read it and to try to surround yourself by the people it mentions in the beginning

So lots of stuff happened this week and not all to me but i like stories so lets get into it

 

ASSAULT

So one companionship got robbed this week in my zone, they were just chilling talking to some dude and this guy jumped in from behind a fence with a gun and cocked it while asking for all there money and phones. THEN the same night another companionship called the ZLs saying that they think somebody broke into their house. They then showed him a photo and their door was completely shattered and all there valuables were stolen lol. AND THEN in another part of the mission these two elders were talking to this drunk dude and he was like "hold on ill be right back", but the elders just decided to leave. Welp the next day while talking to a member she said that some drunk dude was asking around for some missionaries to shoot up👀 so the president told them to leave that area and closed it down for at least 3 months. So yuh lots of crime being committed out here recently. Lots of hate on people from the USA with the deportation stuff so prayers that we all safe out here🙏🙏

 

BIG 19

YESSIR BIRTHDAY WEEK didnt know I shared a birthday with tyreek hill so thats dope🐬🐬🏈🏈 but birthday was pretty solid. Shootout to my mom gray for W birthday presents and shootout to bailee for the present that honduras mail system might have lost🔥🔥🔥 and THANKS everybody for the emails and messages they were awesome. Birthday was chill the penchanista made crepes with coke floats and some cake so sugar overload but she's awesome

 

Elder Shanklins Birthday

Having a birthday was super weird especially knowing my next birthday ill be doing the exact same thing haha. The mission is truly a once in a lifetime thing and im so glad I'm doing it. I already know I've helped so many lives and grown so much, def still super hard but def gonna be worth it
